The descendents of Thomas B. and Margaret Weer Van Tilburgh have been meeting
the second Sunday in August on consecutive years since 1909. We are proud
of this strong Southwest Ohio family heritage. Thomas Van Tilburgh is descended from John Van Tilburgh, pioneer Ohio
settler. John migrated to Ohio from New Jersey when Ohio was still a Territory. John is buried in Braffettsville,
Ohio. Thomas B. was the tenth of thirteen children born to Thomas and Nancy Emley Van Tilburgh. He
and Margaret Weer Van Tilburgh had thirteen children of their own. The early Reunion gatherings included Thomas'
siblings, but soon became centered around Thomas B. and Margaret's offspring.
- In 1909,
the first Reunion was held at Greenville Falls, Ohio, at the home of Ray VanTilburgh, the eldest son.
- From 1910
- 1917, the group met at Greenville Fairgrounds because a large meeting space was required.
- From 1918-1926,
the Reunion was held at various public meeting sites in the area and family member homes.
- The site from 1927
- 1935 was Katherman Park at Bradford, Ohio, close to the home of child number eleven, Tom Vantilburgh.
- Covington Park in Covington,
Ohio, has been the Van Tilburgh Reunion home from 1935 to the present,
a total of seventy-four years.
